Palace Gate seeks a Solutions Architect for our premier client in Oak Brook, IL. This is a direct hire opportunity for a full-service technology integrator that works with clients to deliver custom data center solutions to businesses.

Job Description


The Solution Architect assists the Sales Team and Management to architect solutions, develop sales strategies, define infrastructure requirements, hardware standards, software standards, create proposals and quotes, and assist in all aspects of the customer sales cycle. The position is responsible for the pre-sales architecture, engineering and expansion of the sales revenue. In addition, this person will work with the Professional Services Teams, evaluate requirements for individual projects, and design and specify solutions that will integrate into existing environments and leverage existing resources whenever feasible. This candidate will also be required to analyze the business requirements for functionality and solutions while driving business case and financial justifications. As a Solution Architect you will work closely with a team of professionals to provide pre-sales support to sales teams consisting of Sales Managers and Sales Executives.

  • In general, the SE is responsible for working with prospective customers to articulate the technical and business value of the proposed solution. This is a client-facing role that may require up to 25% travel. Primary territory is the Midwest.

Responsibilities


The Solutions Architect position will have the following responsibilities among others, as applicable.

  • Full pre sales support activities for at least 2-3 assigned Sales Executives
  • Attend client discovery meetings, and demo and present solutions
  • Prepare proposals for hardware, software, and professional services
  • Develop, present and demonstrate solutions to prospective customers based on detailed customer requirements to highlight our broad solution areas with emphasis on key differentiators to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Support solutions for customer trials and proof of concepts
  • Help to identify market and product requirements based on field experience and market trends
  • Work with vendor teams to provide feedback on current and future product requirements
  • Partner with Sales Executives by providing the necessary support to compete effectively in the marketplace by assessing the requirements and uncovering the needs for a complete solution
  • Provide technical pre-sales support to prospective customers.
  • Understand the dependencies of solutions on other components to develop complete solutions for customers.
  • Provide necessary input into RFI’s and RFP’s.
  • Act as an integral member of the sales team contributing to the formulation of strategies and technical approaches, including planning for presales campaigns.
  • Learn and maintain competitive knowledge on industries and products to leverage in the sales cycle
  • Communication with C-Level officers, VPs, technical and non-technical contacts
  • Assist with closing sales opportunities
  • Provide training to sales associates

Qualifications

  • Minimum B.S. Degree or equivalent experience
  • EMC, NetApp, Hitachi, HP, Cisco, IBM, or other Hardware infrastructure certifications are required
  • Microsoft, VMware or other Software certifications are required
  • Proven analytical, time-management, and problem solving skills
  • Storage experience with platforms such as EMC, NetApp, Hitachi, Pure Storage, and Nimble Storage
  • Backup experience with platforms such as Symantec, CommVault, and EMC
  • Networking experience with platforms such as Cisco, Palo Alto, Riverbed, and SilverPeak
  • Hands-on knowledge of hardware, storage, networking and software and also competitor solutions
  • Solid background and experience in Hardware, Software, Network design and implementation.
  • Strong relationship building skills and overall comprehension of sales cycle
  • Outstanding communication skills with technical and non-technical audience
  • Consulting skills are a plus
  • Desire to work in a fast paced dynamic environment
