Palace Gate is seeking at Business Intelligence Developer for our premier client located in Chicago, IL. This is a fulltime opportunity. Job Description The Data Developer is responsible for maintenance of data and ETL processes within existing and new systems. The developer is also responsible for helping to support and develop the Business Intelligence data warehouse and reporting solutions within the company. The developer should cultivate a deep understanding of business processes, and the data structures and logic that support those processes. Emphasis is placed on leveraging expertise and technology to provide steady and continual improvements to all business solutions as well as other systems supported by the technology staff. This role requires strong data analysis skills, attention to detail, and the ability to determine key metrics, analyse results, and make recommendations to management based on those results. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develops or participates in the development, review, and maintenance of database scripts to meet users requirement specifications involving ETL, data clean up, reports, and migrations.
  • Maintains Data quality standards and enforces it through policies and creation of scorecards which allow measuring of performance in this area.
  • Leads the systematic data clean up processes by running a review board to identify, develop, test and release to production data.
  • Generate set of predefined scripts/rules which can sweep through the DB and re-identify broken data.
  • Lead the Data maintenance framework initiative which would involve flagging records that need to be reviewed. Reports can then be created based on those flags to provide measurable statistics
  • Takes a leadership role in participating in the full software development lifecycle which includes working closely with users to gather requirements, problem definition, analysis, solutions development, data conversion, test plans, documentation, and user manuals.
  • Reacts efficiently and quickly to all types of changes that affect data and Business Intelligence solutions.
  • Performs root cause analysis on data issues within the source systems, the data warehouse, and in the reports to ensure data integrity.
  • Acts as an internal consultant to management, customers and staff when required.
  • Keeps management informed of issues with systems, vendors, or customers that might require management intervention.
  • Maintains professional, cooperative relationships with external vendors and clients to help ensure timely delivery, support, and service.
  • Maintains and/or increases understanding and proficiency in new technologies and disciplines so that potential market-driven technologies can be identified, recommended, and implemented.
  • Shares technical expertise with less experienced staff; to train, technically develop, and mentor.
  • Takes a leadership role in planning, coordinating, implementing, and documenting software changes, upgrades and migrations
Education and Training
  • 4 year undergraduate degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline.
Required Skills
  • 2-3 years of experience with the Salesforce/Force.com data model, SOQL, Data Loader, and the Force.com explorer.
  • Experience in importing and exporting data in Salesforce.com.
  • 3-5 years of experience with T-SQL.
  • 2-3 years of experience with the Microsoft BI stack - SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS 2008 R2 and/or 2014.
  • Experience with Salesforce.com reports and dashboards.
  • Experience with DBAmp data integration tools for Salesforce.com & SQL Server.
  • Experience with managing Bulk DML operations in Salesforce.com.
  • Knowledge of Apex, Triggers, and Order of Execution in Salesforce.com.
  • Experience with developing and maintaining SOPs for routine data cleanup activities.
  • A solid understanding of the software development life cycle.
  • Strong understanding of data warehouse design and implementation best practices.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
Desired Skills
  • Experience with open source enterprise search technologies (SOLR, etc.).
  • Familiarity with cloud BI Tools such as Power BI, Birst, Tableau, Domo or Qlik.
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft HR and Finance applications and databases.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft .Net.
  • Experience with relational database-as-a-service in the cloud such as Azure.
